Half Day City Tour of La Paz and Moon Valley:
(Private service, English-speaking guide)
Continue your Peru Family Tour Package with Bolivia Extension by exploring the capital city of La Paz. Visit the famous Witch Doctor’s market where you’ll find herbs, folk remedies, and fascinating ingredients used in Aymara rituals. Next is the handicrafts market of Sagarnaga street, where you can find colorful souvenirs and gifts.
The tour continues to the San Francisco Colonial Church (museum not included) and to Plaza Murillo where the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and the National Congress buildings are located. Afterward, visit the charming, cobblestoned street of Jaén, one of the last colonial streets of downtown La Paz. It is home to a range of museums, shops, bars, and restaurants. Transfer to Plaza España to take the city’s sky lift towards the southern residential area. Here you will enjoy amazing panoramic views of this Andean city cradled by striking mountains.
Finally, visit the Moon Valley, an amazing display of rock erosion patterns like something from out of this world. Enjoy the small gallery of the celebrated local potter, Mario Sarabia, located in the area (duration: 4 hours). Return to your hotel.
Transfer to the town of Copacabana on Lake Titicaca (duration: 3 ½ – 4 hours, altitude: 3840 m / 12595 ft).
Upon arrival, you will start your tour by visiting the Basilica, a stark, white, Moorish-looking building decorated with Portuguese-style blue tiles and rounded domes. The treasure inside is the Shrine of La Virgen de Copacabana — a statue carved during the 15th century, which is said to be responsible for countless miracles. It is also believed that if she’s removed, Lake Titicaca will rise in rebellion and flood the town.
Next, you can take an optional walk through the 12 Stations of the Cross, as devout Catholics do throughout the Easter season. This uphill walk will help you understand the layout of the town and the position of nearby islands (duration: 1½ hours). The views of Lake Titicaca on the way up and at the summit are worth the exercise.
It is also worth noting that, in contrast to the strong Catholic influences found in Copacabana, you will also find Yatiris (Aymara masters) performing spiritual cleansing called “challas” or coca leaf readings on the streets.
Transfer to Sun Island:
After your tour of Copacabana, you will be transferred by boat to the Port of Pilkokaina in the southern part of Sun Island on Lake Titicaca – the legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire – where you will be welcomed by the Lodge staff. Here, you will enjoy a traditional lunch, in the open air, called Apthapi, before continuing on your tour. After lunch, enjoy a smooth uphill walk with amazing views of the lake and a visit to the Inca ruins of Pilkokaina Palace along the way (duration: 45 minutes). The lodge is situated in the halfway up of the island, from where you will behold an amazing sunset.
After enjoying breakfast at the Eco-lodge, walk down to the Port of Yumani. On your way down, visit the Escalera del Inca, a stairway leading to the Inca Fountain once believed to be a fountain of youth. After a short trek with wonderful panoramic views of Lake Titicaca, you will take a boat back to Copacabana (duration: 1 hour) and then be transferred to Tiwanaku (duration: 3 – 4 hours).
Half-Day Tiwanaku Ruins and Transfer to La Paz:
After lunch, you will visit the Spiritual and Political Centre of the Tiwanaku culture, which includes beautiful monumental stone buildings that have survived in protected archaeological zones. See the Kalasasaya Temple (Sun), the iconic Sun Gate, the Semi-Subterranean Temple (Earth), the Akapana Pyramid, and the Puma Punku ceremonial center. At the adjacent museums, enjoy an impressive collection of objects and tools of ancient civilizations in addition to monumental monoliths (duration: 1 ½ – 2 hours). Transfer to your hotel in La Paz (duration: 1 ½ hours).
Airport transfer WITH DRIVER ONLY to take your flight La Paz – Uyuni (booked on your own).
Full-Day Uyuni Salt Flats Tour:
(Private service, English-speaking guide)
Morning pick up from Uyuni airport and transfer on a 4×4 on route to the amazing Uyuni Salt Flats (altitude: 3600 m / 11808 ft) for a rugged yet amazing journey of a lifetime.
On your way, you will visit the cemetery of trains, where you can take playful and even artistic pictures on board the remains of 19th and 20th-century steam locomotives. Next, you will visit the town of Colchani (20 minutes from Uyuni) where you will learn the artisanal salt extraction process from local inhabitants, and maybe even purchase salt from Uyuni. On this trip you will also see piles of extracted salt and see up-close the “ojos del salar” or mineralized water springs bursting out of the salt flat.
The next stop is Incahuasi Island, located in the middle of the Uyuni Salt Flat, where you can see the famous giant cacti that are up to 10 meters high and enjoy a short walk to the top of the island to admire wonderful panoramic views of the salt flats. Lunch will be served in the middle of the salt flat for an exclusive experience like no other. This is a perfect time to take advantage of the salt flat’s extraordinary flatness and play with proportion and perspective in your photographs (during the dry season: from mid-April to mid-November, subject to weather changes).
After lunch, transfer to the Tunupa Volcano to visit the Coqueza mummies found in that area and the Chiquini Caves. On the way back to Colchani, you will stop to visit the first hotel made of salt, Playa Blanca, where you can take photos in the flag garden of different countries and with the Dakar monument. Transfer to your hotel made of salt in Colchani to enjoy a delicious dinner.
Evening free. (You can request your Travel Advisor to add a Stargazing Night Tour – not included in the price)

The region has two marked seasons: wet and dry. The rainy or wet season usually begins at the end of November and lasts through March. The dry season is typically from April to November. Both seasons offer unique experiences of the Uyuni Salt Flats, so you should plan your trip based on what you want to do.
During the rainy season, the Bolivia salt flats are covered in water. As such, travelers can capture amazing pictures of the Salar’s mirror effect, but access to certain areas is limited. In addition, excessive rain may cause some tours to cancel. On the other hand, during the dry season, temperatures drop and the salt ground hardens. As such, visitors can explore the iconic Incahuasi Island, and other areas, usually inaccessible during the wet season.
All our tours are totally customizable. We have created pre-designed tour packages so you get inspired for your next trip to Peru. However, your travel advisor will design an itinerary to cater to your personalized preferences for a truly unforgettable Peruvian adventure.
You can add adventure activities or treks in the Andes of Cusco to your itinerary. We are also Inca Trail operators and offer private guided tours only for a more personalized experience.
The tour includes all transportation between destinations in Peru and Bolivia, including airport transfers, train journeys, and comfortable motor coaches. In Bolivia, you will benefit from private transfers for a more personalized experience.
We recommend packing comfortable walking shoes, layers of clothing for varying temperatures, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle. Check the weather forecast for the specific dates of your travel to pack accordingly.
Altitude sickness is associated with headache, fatigue, nausea and malaise. The symptoms do not always appear and depend on each person.
We recommend you to rest for at least 3 hours upon arrival, eat light as digestion might be slower during your first days, and drink plenty of fluids.
You may find some medicine against the altitude sickness, like “sorojchi pills” (it contains caffeine), or people may recommend you to drink coca tea. However, both options are not advisable for people with heart diseases, respiratory disorders, diabetes or high blood pressure. We recommend that you consult your physician before your travel.
A natural medicine, like the “Muña” tea (Andean mint), will help for a good digestion.
