Arequipa & Colca Canyon 4-Day Tour Package

Arequipa bases its tourist potential on the heritage of pre-Hispanic culture and on its natural riches. Tourism is concentrated in the city, which is a pole of attraction for its ashlar buildings. The ancient city is located in the center, where you can admire the colonial architecture in one of the best expressions of religious inspiration that reaches not only the temples, but also the civil architecture, with mansions of portals characterized by a very high and decorated curved pediment.

The Colca Canyon is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in Colorado – USA. It is 4,150 meters / 13,612 feet deep, therefore it is considered as one of the deepest canyons in the world. The name “Colca” comes from the word of two ethnic communities: the Collaguas and Cabanas, who lived along the Colca River. Besides its grandeur, the Colca Canyon is a fantastic place to witness closely the majestic flight of the Condor, and a great opportunity to take up-close photographs of them.

In the Highlands, the temperature changes throughout the day and these changes are more evident between the shadow and the sun, so it is necessary to keep warm clothes. Therefore, it is advisable to dress in layers so you can put on/off your clothes depending on the temperature. The climate is generally very dry so it is advisable to use moisturizing creams.

Colca Lodge provides guests with a range of amenities to enhance their stay, including natural hot springs and the Eco Thermal Spa featuring a steam room, Jacuzzis, and massage sessions by local therapists. The lodge also offers a peaceful and harmonious environment, surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Altitude sickness is associated with headache, fatigue, nausea and malaise. The symptoms do not always appear and depend on each person.

We recommend you to rest for at least 3 hours upon arrival, eat light as digestion might be slower during your first days, and drink plenty of fluids.

You may find some medicine against the altitude sickness, like “sorojchi pills” (it contains caffeine), or people may recommend you to drink coca tea. However, both options are not advisable for people with heart diseases, respiratory disorders, diabetes or high blood pressure.

We recommend that you consult your physician before your travel.

A natural medicine, like the “Muña” tea (Andean mint), will help for a good digestion.
