    Amazing Machu Picchu 4-Day Tour

The 4-Day Tour To Machu Picchu offers you the opportunity to discover and experience closely the Inca history, legacy, and cultural ways that still endure in the present time.  Your Machu Picchu tour will take you through Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and finally the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu!

Your Machu Picchu Tour will include:

    • An excursion through the outstanding Inca and Colonial sights in the lively city of Cusco.
    • A visit to the formidable and long-lasting fortress of Sacsayhuaman.
    • Travelling across the gorgeous landscape the Sacred Valley of the Incas has to offer.
    • Shopping at the historical artisan market of Pisac.
    • Climbing up the stairs to the Wind shrine in the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo.
    • And finally, your Full-day Machu Picchu Tour.

Machu Picchu, one of the most valued icons of Inca architectural prowess, is mistakenly referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas”. Even though its existence was known by the locals since the beginning of the 1900s, it wasn’t until 1911 that Machu Picchu became known to the world.

Machu Picchu was constructed on top of a mountain, on the ridge (altitude: 2430m/7970ft above sea level), strategically harbored by the mountains surrounding it, as if the main purpose was to keep it hidden. When you finally lay your eyes on it, you know the trip was all worthwhile and the best way to spend your holidays!

    1. DAY 1 Cusco Tour: The city and surroundings

      Airport Transfer:

We will pick you up from the airport in Cusco and transfer you to your hotel (altitude: 3400m/11152ft / transfer with Spanish-speaking driver only, no guide’s assistance).

      Cusco City Tour:

(Shared service up to 16 travelers, English-speaking guide)

We will meet in your hotel lobby to begin your excursion in the city of Cusco. We will make a first stop at the Cathedral of Cusco—part of our colonial legacy, considered of high importance amongst the catholic population in the present. Then, we will continue with Koricancha (or Temple of the Sun). It is considered one of the most important sacred Inca places within the city, which sheltered all Gods and Goddesses brought by the nations that integrated the Empire centuries ago.

After a short drive, we will be at the formidable archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman, a magnificent stonework with finely cut polygonal blocks. A little further, we will stop at the archeological sites of Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. They are all part of the limits of the city in the old days, what nowadays we would call Customs checkpoint!  After this excursion, you will return to your hotel.

      Evening free.

      Overnight in Cusco.

      Meals included: none.

    2. DAY 2 The Sacred Valley of the Incas (altitude: 2800m/9184ft) and Aguas Calientes arrival

(Shared service up to 16 travelers, English-speaking guide)

We will meet you at your hotel, and we will begin the excursion by visiting the citadel of Pisac. It is an archeological site with extensive agricultural terraces which were naturally divided by the mountain ridges. Also, it is famous because of its impressive cemetery constituted by more than a thousand burial niches on a mountain wall. Later on, you will explore and perhaps shop in the historical artisan market located on the main plaza of the town of Pisac. Then, you will have a delicious lunch in the town of Yucay.

The tour continues to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, with an awe-inspiring construction on a steep mountain. It was built for military, agricultural, and religious control purposes as a watchtower over the Sacred Valley. Once you make it to the top, you may experience a sense of spiritual communion with nature. Also, you will be stepping in the Wind Shrine, which offers an incredible sight of the magnificent landscape along the Sacred Valley.

The tour ends at around 15:30 to 16:00 hrs. We recommend bringing a backpack with your belongings for 1 night so you can comfortably wander through this ancient cobblestone town of Inca times until the train leaves.

Then, you will be instructed to walk, on your own, to the Ollantaytambo Train Station (10-min walk from the Main plaza) for your Expedition Train* (tourist class), departing at 19:00hrs and arriving in Aguas Calientes at 20:45. A hotel staff member will escort you to your hotel.

*Please note that you can upgrade the train to the Vistadome (superior class). Surcharges are detailed in the ”Prices” section.

      Evening free.

      Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

    3. DAY 3 Full-day Machu Picchu Tour (altitude: 2430m/7970ft)

      (Shared trains/bus. Private transfers & English-speaking guide)

Early in the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel, and you will take the bus up to Machu Picchu together. Then, you will explore this formidable architectural complex (recommended time: 8:00 a.m. / duration: 2–3 hours).

Note: For dramatic views of the landscape that surrounds Machu Picchu, you can hike on your own either the Huayna Picchu Mountain for about 2 hours (entrance schedules: 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m.), the Machu Picchu Mountain for 3–4 hours (entrance schedules: 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m.), or the Huchuy Picchu Mountain for 1 hour (entrance schedules: 10:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.). These treks are optional and not included in the price.

Once the tour has come to an end, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes (buses depart every 5 min) and get a taste of Peruvian cuisine at a local restaurant overlooking the Vilcanota river.

You can do some exploration in the small town or visit the town’s Hot Springs (from which the town owes its name), and then head to the train station on your own for your Expedition Train (tourist class – upgrade to Vistadome with surcharge upon request), departing at 15:20 hrs and arriving at 17:08hrs at Ollantaytambo station, where you will look for a sign with your name to be transferred to your hotel in Cusco (a 2-hour ride approx).
