Celebration of Love: A Magical Proposal in the Land of the Incas

There are journeys that go far beyond travel — they transform lives forever.
At Intense Peru, this is exactly what inspires us: crafting exclusive and authentic itineraries that become unforgettable life experiences.

A few days ago, we had the joy of helping one of our travelers create a truly magical moment.
Our client Osvaldo, from Puerto Rico, chose Peru — the Land of the Incas — as the perfect place to propose to his beloved Perla.

From Lima’s Flavors to the Mystical Andes

Their two-week adventure began in Lima, the gastronomic capital of Latin America.
After a private city tour, they enjoyed an exquisite lunch at the renowned Larco Museum-Café — a must for food and culture lovers.

The following day, they flew to Cusco and continued directly to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to better acclimate to the altitude.

From there, they explored the charming villages and impressive archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo and Pisac before boarding the train to Machu Picchu. Bathed in sunshine, the majestic Inca citadel offered the perfect setting — a magical prelude to what was about to happen.

The Perfect Proposal at Huaypo Lagoon

Back in the Sacred Valley, adventure awaited. Osvaldo and Perla explored the Maras salt mines and Moray archaeological site on ATVs, riding through breath-taking Andean scenery.

Then, on Monday, September 29th, with the serene Huaypo lagoon as their witness, Osvaldo got down on one knee and asked Perla to marry him. Her answer was an emotional and firm “Yes!”

Osvaldo shared:
“I had been planning to propose to Perla for a long time, and I knew the mysticism and natural beauty of Cusco would be the perfect setting.”

Perla added:
“There’s no better place in the world to get engaged. This will forever be one of the most special trips of my life.”

Exploring Cusco, Palccoyo rainbow mountain, and Lake Titicaca

The second half of their journey — now with Perla proudly wearing her engagement ring — took them back to Cusco.

They enjoyed a private city tour around the unique historic center of Cusco and ventured to Palccoyo rainbow mountain, a stunning, less-crowded alternative to the famous Vinicunca. Travelers, take note — this hidden gem is every bit as colorful and awe-inspiring!

Finally, Osvaldo and Perla travelled by luxury train to Puno, where they were enchanted by the majesty of the Andes and Highlands, the vastness of Lake Titicaca, and its floating islands.

They even spent a night with a local family on “Amantani Island”, a genuine and heart-warming cultural experience — the perfect ending to a journey filled with love and wonder.
