CHAN CHAN PERU TOUR PACKAGE

You will visit the archeological complex of Huacas de Moche—an admirable ancient remainings of the main center of the Moche culture, by the Cerro Blanco peak, strategically located near the mouth of the Moche River Valley. Huaca del Sol was built for administrative and residential purposes, and Huaca de la Luna was a ceremonial and religious center. This monumental site bears proof of the Moche power, a civilization that expanded between A.D. 100 and 900.

After lunch, you will continue to Huanchaco, a traditional fishermen town key port for the Moche, the Chimu, and the Incas in the past. Presently we still find the outstanding “Caballitos de totora”, small reed boats used to surf the waves, a tradition that dates back more than 3,000 years.

Finally, only 4 km further is your last stop: Chan Chan, the capital and largest pre-Columbian Chimu city. A magnificent architectural masterpiece, that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.

After breakfast, you will visit the complex of “El Brujo” (the wizard). It is an ancient ceremonial center where we will be able to admire 5,000 years of legacy of human occupation in this region: from the nomads to the Cupisnic, Moche, Lambayeque, Chimu, and Inca cultures until the colonial period and nowadays.

We will also learn the history of the most powerful Mochica woman who ruled the northern part of Peru in A.D. 300 — the famous Lady of Cao (duration: 3 hours). Lunch on route. Return to your hotel.

At night, transfer to the bus station to take your bus to Chiclayo (duration: 4 hours approx). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Chiclayo.

Today you will visit the National Museum of Sicán, which reveals the customs and lifestyle of Sicán and harbors the Lord of Sicán’s tombs and funerary pieces.

We will continue to the historical sanctuary of Pómac Forest. The tour includes the Dry carob forest, a stop at the Interpretation center, a close sight of the spectacular Millennium tree, and the visit of “Las Salinas” viewpoint and Batán Grande archaeological complex.

Finally, and after enjoying a delicious lunch, you will visit Túcume and the Valley of the Pyramids on 220 hectares. Túcume is the largest archaeological opencast complex, found in the middle of an arid desert with a beautiful dry forest. Return to your hotel.

Pick-up from your hotel. We will start with the famous and miraculously intact Lord of Sipán at Huaca Rajada — a member of the Moche Dynasty and the first royal mummy to be discovered in Peru. The tour will continue to the Museum of Huaca Rajada that exhibits his remains.

After lunch, you will visit the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán, listed as the most modern in Latin America, where the real gems of the Mochica art are kept, as well as the remains of the old dignitary of Sipán. Return to your hotel in Chiclayo.

Finally, pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport to take your flight Chiclayo – Lima (not included).
