    1. DAY 1 Arrival in Lima and Half Day City Tour

      Welcome to Peru!

      International flight arriving in Lima (booked on your own). Pick up from the airport and transfer to your hotel in Miraflores (this service is with Spanish-speaking driver only, no guide’s assistance).

      Half Day City Tour of Lima:

      (Private service, English- or Italian-speaking guide)

      Pick up from your hotel lobby. Your City Tour Lima will begin with a panoramic visit to the traditional districts of San Isidro and Miraflores. The tour will pass through the Parque del Amor where you will enjoy magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and also through the Huaca Pucllana, an impressive pre-Inca temple in the shape of a pyramid that is located in the middle of the city. Then, you will visit the historic center of Lima starting with the colonial house of Aliaga (exclusive entrance). Finally, a short stop will be made at the Plaza Mayor, where the Presidential Palace and the Cathedral are located; and a panoramic tour of Plaza San Martín, a large park in the center of Lima surrounded by republican buildings (duration: 4 hours approx). Return to your hotel.

      Optional/not included: We recommend having lunch at Café Larco, situated inside the Larco Museum, which is housed in an 18th-century viceroyalty mansion. Check with your Travel Advisor for more details!

    2. DAY 2 Transfer to/from Airport and Traveling to the Sacred Valley

      Welcome to Cusco!

      Pick up from your hotel lobby and transfer to the airport to take your flight Lima – Cusco (booked on your own / service with Spanish-speaking driver only, no guide’s assistance).

      Upon arrival, your guide will welcome you and escort you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley (altitude: 2800 m / 9184 ft), located 1.5 hours from the City of Cusco.

      Rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel premises and acclimate to the altitude.

      Recommendations: Rest for at least 3 hours upon arrival, eat light as digestion might be slower during your first days, drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol.
      *Please note that Muña tea (Andean mint) will help for a good digestion. Coca tea is used against altitude sickness, but it is not advisable for people with heart diseases, respiratory disorders, diabetes or high blood pressure.

    3. DAY 3 Machu Picchu Tour

      (Private service, English- or Italian-speaking guide)

      Today you will discover the beauty and magnificence of the great Inca city and UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. We will travel towards the Ollantaytambo train station and board the Vistadome 301 train (superior class), departing at 07:05 hours and arriving at 08:27 hours in Aguas Calientes village.

      Upon arrival, you will take a 30-minute bus ride up to the Citadel of Machu Picchu (altitude: 2430 m / 7970 ft) and will explore the great ”Lost City of the Incas” together with your guide (duration: 2–2 ½ hours). Machu Picchu entrance schedule: from 09:00 hours.

      Once the tour has come to an end, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes (buses depart every 5 minutes) and get a taste of Peruvian cuisine at Café Inkaterra overlooking the Vilcanota river.

      Afterward, you will head towards the train station to board the Vistadome 34 Train, departing at 15:20 hours and arriving at 17:08 hours at the Ollantaytambo station, where you will look for a sign with your name to be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley (a 30-minute ride approx).

      • For dramatic views of the landscape that surrounds Machu Picchu, you can hike on your own either the Huayna Picchu Mountain for about 2 hours (entrance schedules: 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m.), the Machu Picchu Mountain for 3–4 hours (entrance schedules: 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m.), or the Huchuy Picchu Mountain for 1 hour (entrance schedules: 10:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.).  Your Travel Expert will help you customize your Machu Picchu visit!

    4. DAY 4 Ollantaytambo - Hacienda Huayoccari - Pisac

      (Private service, English- or Italian-speaking guide)

      Ollantaytambo Town & Fortress:

      Pick up from the hotel lobby to discover the Sacred Valley highlights, starting with a first stop at the cobblestone town of Ollantaytambo, where you will have some free time to wander through this ancient village of Inca times. Next, you will visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress with its amazing mountain views.

      In the afternoon, enjoy lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari. This lovely secluded hacienda was built in the 50’s by one of the most prestigious families in Cusco. It provides beautiful surroundings, an amazing garden with beautiful views, antiques and folk art throughout, and amazing food.

      Pisaq Market and Archaeological Site:

      After lunch, continue the tour toward the quaint and traditional Pisac market and the archeological ruins of Pisac (altitude: 2800 m / 9184 ft). In Pisac, you will also witness the artisanal wood-fired adobe ovens, where they prepare empanadas using 7 traditional flours: wheat, white quinoa, black quinoa, kiwicha, corn, cañihua and beans. Return to your hotel (tour duration: 8 hours).

    5. DAY 5 ATV Ride across Maras & Moray, Picnic at Huaypo Lake

      (Private service, English- or Italian-speaking guide)

      Your driver and guide will take you from your hotel to the natural salt mines of Maras (transfer duration: 45 minutes, altitude: 3300m/10824ft).

      Then, you will be transferred to the ATV meeting point, where your adventure instructor will explain how to use the ATVs and you will practice for 15 minutes. The next step is to enjoy an off-road experience nearby the terraces of the agricultural laboratory and astronomical observatory of Moray with a visit of the site (altitude: 3500m/11480ft).

      After the ride, you will return to the meeting point to drop the ATVs, and you will continue to Huaypo Lake for a delicious picnic (tour duration: 5 hours).

      After the picnic, transfer to your hotel in the city of Cusco (2-hour ride / altitude: 3350m/10988ft).

    6. DAY 6 Cusco City Tour

      (Private service, English- or Italian-speaking guide)

      We will meet in the lobby to set out on a guided tour to the Cathedral, the Koricancha – also known as the Temple of the Sun, and the archaeological sites located nearby the city such as the complex of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay (duration: 4 hours). Return to your hotel.

      We recommend adding the optional tour of Chinchero (not included). You can check this option with your Travel Expert.

      In the textile town of Chinchero (1 hour from Cusco, altitude: 3800 m / 12464 ft), you will get familiar with the ancient textile practices, such as the spinning of alpaca and sheep yarn, the dyeing process and how they obtain different hues from natural products, and the meaning of several icons represented in their textiles.

    7. Day 7 Airport Transfer in Cusco

    In the Highlands, the temperature changes throughout the day and these changes are more evident between the shadow and the sun, so it is necessary to keep warm clothes. Therefore, it is advisable to dress in layers so you can put on/off your clothes depending on the temperature. The climate is generally very dry so it is advisable to use moisturizing creams.
